Needed: A Safer Way to Fight Wildfire

Recently I was touring ranches near Ruidosa, New Mexico, and learned that toxic chemicals contained in fire-retardants like these had washed into their river systems, killing the fisheries which they are now trying to detoxify and restock.

For over 100 years we have been using poisonous chemicals on fires, weeds, insects, brush and wild animals including wolves, coyotes, prairie dogs and now, feral pigs. These have done vast damage to systems. The increasing use of toxic chemicals and poisons is among the reasons that iconic game species like quail, pronghorn, mule deer, bighorn sheep and others are in irregular, long-term decline, something the ‘experts’ – most of whom advocate such practices – can neither explain nor reverse.
