As discussed below, a ‘virtual’ fence system for livestock is under development at the University of Idaho.

Several “virtual fence” systems have been designed through the years. They have mostly failed.

If successful such a system would transform planned grazing of domestic animals on public rangelands and forests. It might even allow the control of species like bison.

Let’s hope this one works.
