Renowned Texas author and photographer Laurence Parent has done 44 books. His latest, Colorado: A Photographic Journey was published in 2016. New Mexico: A Photographic Journey was published in 2014. Texas: Portrait of a State, was published in 2013. Photographing Austin, San Antonio, and the Texas Hill Country was published in 2012. A book on the Texas State Cemetery was published by University of Texas Press in 2011. Death in Big Bend, a book on fatalities and rescues at Big Bend National Park, was published in July 2010. A large format color book, Big River, Rio Grande, that was released in the Fall of 2009. Another large format color book, Portrait of Austin, was released in October 2008. In 2007, another large format coffee-table book, New Mexico Wild and Beautiful, was published. Also in 2007, he had three other books published: Austin Impressions, San Antonio Impressions, and Santa Fe Impressions. Before that, a large hardcover color book, Big Bend National Park, came out in September 2006. In the spring of 2006, his hardcover book of black and white Texas landscapes, Timeless Texas, was published. Texas Coast, published by University of Texas Press, came out in the fall of 2005. Prior to that was his book on the state of New Mexico, New Mexico Impressions. His large-format color book, Lighthouses: Sentinels of the American Coast was released in June 2003. Two large-format color books, Wildflowers Across Texas and Nature of the Forest, were released in April 2002 and December 2002 respectively.

In fall 2001, another large-format color hard-cover book, Texas Mountains, co-authored with Joe Nick Patoski, was released by University of Texas Press. Photographs of Circle Ranch appear as the cover and throughout this book.
